Energy & Gut Health Balance Guide

Our digestive system converts the food we eat into fuel for our bodies, and therefore ensures that we are getting the most nutritious and energy dense food which is vital to our overall health and wellbeing.

I love to start my day around 6.30am with my cleansing immune boosting tonic which kick starts my metabolism and flushes out any unwanted toxins from my gut. This is followed by 5 mins of morning meditation and deep belly breathing to relax my body and mind, allowing me to prepare for the busy day ahead.

Serves 1

Eating for Energy and Gut Health Balance

Breakfast - 7am - 9am

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it kickstarts your metabolism and digestive system. Ensure that you replenish your energy sources with a low GI carbohydrate, a serving of protein and a serving of healthy fats.

Snack - 11am

Ensure that your snack contains a source of protein and some healthy fats. A perfect option would be a handful of nuts, a boiled egg accompanied by a green juice for an extra boost of vitamins and minerals.

Lunch - 12pm - 1pm

Combine dark leafy vegetables with a protein and healthy fat source, plus one serving of starch eg. gluten free grain, legumes or a starch vegetable.

Snack - 3pm

Take 10 - 15 mins to enjoy a cup of herbal tea and a protein rich snack that will sustain your energy sources until dinner. Avoid caffeine and fruit, as these will not do your blood sugar levels any favours.

Dinner - 6pm - 7pm

Your lightest meal of the day. Think clean and simple, coupling a protein source with a variety of non-starch vegetables. If you are quite hungry you can also add a low carbohydrate such as a gluten free grain.

Dessert - 9pm

Small nutrient dense snack (2x Dark Chocolate Squares, Small Protein Ball), & digestive herbal tea

Tuning into your body's cravings is essential. Some days you will be hungrier than others, so listen to your body and feed it with smart food choices, always remembering that simple is best!
